The overall project “HAP.regio – Heat Action Planning for the Emscher Region” aims to develop a regionally coordinated heat action plan for the 16 participating cities and the district of Recklinghausen over the next two years. In the long term, this planning should enable the municipalities to draw up their own local heat action plans based on common standards and coordinated procedures and to implement measures to reduce the risk of heat. The focus here is on protecting the population from health risks caused by heat events.
As part of the project, standardized procedures for heat prevention are being developed together with the municipalities – including a coordinated reporting chain for heat events, a practical toolbox of measures, a structured participation process and target group-specific communication strategies. The cities receive targeted support to create and implement their own heat action plans.
CLIMATICON GmbH is responsible for project coordination and, in particular, for participation, communication and the development of transferable instruments.
