As a strategic foundation for climate-resilient development, CLIMATICON GmbH is developing an integrated climate adaptation concept on behalf of the Rhein-Erft district. The district has experienced repeated problems with heavy rainfall in the past, while heat stress is also increasingly occurring in densely populated areas. A holistic approach to these climate risks within the framework of the climate adaptation concept is particularly important: the concept consolidates existing knowledge, assesses climate risks, defines strategic goals, and prioritizes measures. It is intended to support the district in the future in strategically advancing adaptation measures within its own jurisdiction, leveraging synergies with climate protection and biodiversity initiatives, and thus increasing climate resilience and quality of life.
GIS-based analyses as well as interactive participation processes with the aim of involving relevant stakeholders play an important role in project management.
CLIMATICON GmbH is responsible in particular for the following tasks:
- Project coordination
- Conception and implementation of participation formats
- Development of an overall strategy with a mission statement and guiding principles
- Creation of a catalog of measures and detailed fact sheets on these measures
- Support in developing a sustainability strategy and controlling concept
- Development of a communication strategy
- Design of accompanying communication materials
