Climate Change & Spatial Planning
Climate adaptation is one of the key cross-cutting tasks of spatial planning. Heat, heavy rainfall and drought have a direct impact on cities, municipalities and regions – on infrastructure, quality of life and investment security. At the same time, the requirements for climate-resilient, sustainable urban and regional development are growing.
CLIMATICON supports municipalities, regions and other stakeholders in the strategic integration of climate adaptation into planning and development processes. Our concepts combine increasing climate resilience with social, ecological and economic goals.

The health effects of climate change are visible. Due to rising temperatures and extreme weather events, this is increasingly affecting many people, especially vulnerable groups. Heatwaves in combination with air pollution and other climate-related disease risks pose a growing challenge for public health, especially in urban areas. Measures to increase climate resilience are becoming increasingly important.
CLIMATICON supports stakeholders from the healthcare sector as well as municipal, regional and national administrations in developing and implementing strategies to increase climate resilience. With our expertise in heat action planning (HAP), we help to address the effects of extreme weather events and minimize health risks in affected regions in a targeted manner.
Our focus areas:
- Municipal and regional heat action planning (HAP): Development and implementation of tailored heat action plans at local and regional level, e.g. as part of HAP.Regio.
- Nationwide heat strategies and action plans: Conception of nationwide HAPs such as HAP Thuringia in order to create effective health prevention measures on a large scale.
- Participation processes and cooperation: Moderation of planning and participation processes that involve all relevant stakeholders – from municipalities to healthcare facilities.

Climate change is changing our perspectives and also how we speak, listen and act. Climate impact adaptation places complex demands on politics, administration, companies and society. Turning knowledge into action requires communication that connects people, issues and decisions.
CLIMATICON sees communication as a strategic tool for climate impact adaptation. We develop comprehensible messages and effective formats – always at eye level with clients, project partners and target groups. After all, trust, comprehensibility and acceptance can only be achieved through dialog based on partnership.
Our work combines creative, editorial and strategic expertise with in-depth specialist knowledge. This enables us to communicate not only correctly, but also in a target group-oriented and motivating way – in local authorities, networks, companies and projects.

Climate Change & Participation
Climate change requires broad social mobilization. To actively involve all relevant stakeholders in adaptation processes, we at CLIMATICON rely on participatory approaches to make climate adaptation tangible and feasible. This takes place both in municipal and regional planning processes as well as in cross-company networks.
Through targeted participation formats, we ensure that citizens, companies and political decision-makers are actively involved in planning processes. This not only promotes the acceptance and feasibility of measures, but also strengthens the resilience of municipalities and companies.
