The city of Aachen is currently working with the support of CLIMATICON GmbH on a practical heat action plan. The plan is currently being developed. Aachen Heat Action Plan (AHAP) will include measures for medium- and long-term heat preparedness as well as for acute disaster situations during prolonged heat waves. The AHAP is intended to develop into an effective instrument for protecting the population from the increasingly frequent heat risks. In addition to the general population, the focus is particularly on those who are especially vulnerable population groups.
CLIMATICON GmbH bases its consulting and technical activities on comprehensive foundations and preliminary work for heat action planning in Aachen. The project is being supported in parallel by the ecolo office with regard to external stakeholders and communication processes.
CLIMATICON GmbH is responsible in particular for the following tasks:
- Professional advice and support from the city of Aachen
- Analysis and improvement of internal administrative communication and processes
- Communication measures and networking of key stakeholders
- Development of practical and implementation-oriented measures based on the WHO core elements
- Further development of a reporting chain for acute heat events
- Planning and implementation of events, workshops and participatory formats
- Development of a monitoring strategy
- External project coordination
