The expansion of renewable energies faces complex challenges, as agricultural use, nature conservation, residential development, and commercial interests compete for a limited supply of land. The aim of the project is to develop technical, ecological, and planning criteria for site selection and to identify specific potential areas for the use of photovoltaics in a transparent and comprehensible process.
On behalf of the city of Mülheim (Ruhr), CLIMATICON GmbH is conducting a structured participation process to identify suitable sites for open-space photovoltaic systems. The process brings together perspectives from the administration and the city community, promotes public acceptance, and creates a sound basis for political decisions.
The interactive participation process with several workshops enables the involvement of relevant experts and ensures a balanced consideration of the different interests.
CLIMATICON GmbH is responsible for the following tasks, among others:
- Survey of existing structures, demands and challenges
- Conception and implementation of several workshops
- Support in developing a robust catalogue of criteria
- Support in the prioritization of potential areas and creation of a georeferenced land register
- Documentation of the results and development of concrete recommendations for action
